SLOPE REMEDIATION & RETAINING

RetIREMENT VILLAGE, NEWCASTLE

Our client had a large portion of inaccessible land, wasting valuable outdoor space. The area lies on a significant slope, and had been left unmaintained, and overgrown for years. The scope, to create an inviting space, safe for residents to access, yet easy ongoing maintenance.

CLEAR, TIER & RETAIN

First action was to excavate the area, clearing all weeds, shrubs and plants from site. Completed by our experienced excavation operators on the 9 and 3.5 Tonne CAT Excavators, with excess green waste and dirt removed in our 8-wheeler tipper.

Now working with a blank canvas, excavation continued to carve multiple tiers through the sloped site, and levelling flat areas to create easy walking spaces, while ensuring minor slope for correct water runoff through the property.

Hardscape & SOFTSCAPE

Continuing the sloped site remediation with a new sandstone retaining tiering solution. An existing damaged concrete path was removed and re-laid to rectify previous trip hazards for the residents. Sandstone Boulders have been used as ground cover for the top initial slope of the site, with ag-line drainage installed and connected into stormwater.

The site has been completed with softscape solutions perfect for large areas. Buffalo Turf along with semi-matured trees complete the space, ready for residents to enjoy.

RETaining solution, blue mountains

SLOPED BLOCK retaining wall, BLAXLAND

This Blue Mountains backyard on a sloped street needed some reinforcement to the high side of the property. The neighbouring fence was compromised on top of it’s crumbling old stone retaining wall. The scope, to retain the neighbouring property, securing the existing fenceline.

TIER & RETAIN

After clearing the area, two tiers were excavated into the slope, followed by Sandstone block retaining walls. The top blocks were laid into a concrete footing base to ensure integrity of the new structure.

SOFTSCAPE

The project is finished off with garden mulch and Buffalo turf to withstand the shady conditions, created by the established tree which has now become a focal point of the yard.

OUTCOME

In just eight days, the backyard has been completely transformed adding not only functionality, but value to our client’s property. Delivering well and above the targeted scope, the outcomes include: implementation of significant retaining solution on a rocky slope; an increased size of lawn area; created visual interest in a previously unused area of yard; designed tiered levels around an established tree creating a focal point; added two full garden beds for future planting; used a retaining wall solution to double as built in seating; levelled and re-turfed to complete the project.
